DES MOINES, Iowa, April 24, 2019—EMC Insurance Companies is the presenting sponsor for the Girls on the Run of Central Iowa 5K, a biannual event that is the culmination of the interactive lessons and running games girls participate in throughout the Girls on the Run program.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based program that supports girls in third through eighth grade as they become joyful, healthy and confident. Forty-seven teams of girls representing 12 Iowa school districts participate in this program each spring and fall. Completing the celebratory, noncompetitive 5K at the end helps girls build confidence through accomplishment and learn how to set and achieve life goals.
“Learning about the importance of movement and good nutrition at a young age can lead to happy, healthy futures. That’s why EMC supports Girls on the Run,” Senior Vice President – Chief Claims Officer Lisa Simonetta said. “We’re committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the people in the communities we serve.”
