DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 1, 2020)—Beth Nigut, who serves as Executive Vice President & Chief People Officer for EMC Insurance Companies, has been named the “Davis Brown Human Resources Professional of the Year” by the Des Moines Business Record.

This is the first year for the award, which is designed to highlight an outstanding HR professional from Central Iowa for their professional accomplishments and community engagement. Nominees are judged on the following criteria:
In her role, Nigut oversees Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Innovation, Organizational Effectiveness, Learning and Development, Change Management, and Security and Safety. She is a member of EMC's six-person Executive Leadership Team, the highest-ranking female at EMC and the first female EVP in its history.
Nigut first joined EMC in 2010, as the Vice President of Human Resources. She was promoted to Senior Vice President of Human Resources in 2014, and Senior Vice President – Chief Human Resources Officer in 2018, and to her current role in 2020.
Prior to joining EMC, Nigut served as General Counsel for the Des Moines Independent Community School District and worked at a local law firm for more than 13 years, specializing in employment and insurance law. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and a Juris Doctor degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
