DES MOINES, Iowa (Sept. 20, 2022)—EMC Insurance Companies was named to the Robert K. Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership at Seton Hall’s inaugural Servant Leader Hall of Fame Induction. The ceremony and reception recognize high-profile individuals and organizations (nine in total) that are committed to the well-being of others, resulting in benefits to individuals, communities, organizations and society more broadly. EMC was recognized in the category of “servant-led organization”.
“We’re honored at EMC to be a part of this hall of fame event that recognizes our commitment to servant leadership,” said Beth Nigut, EMC executive vice president. “Servant leadership is a core part of who we are, and how we lead and treat others, at EMC and it will be an honor to engage with other like-minded organizations and people.”
Servant leadership is a leadership philosophy embedded in a set of core characteristics and demonstrative behaviors that place the primary emphasis on the well-being of those being served. While servant leadership is a timeless concept, the phrase was coined by Robert K. Greenleaf in The Servant as Leader, an essay he first published in 1970.
Awardees will be recognized at the Center’s ceremony and reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 18, 2022, at Bethany Hall, Seton Hall University, located at 400 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey 07079.
