How it works

EMC covers the cost* of the OnCall Nurse service for most workers’ compensation policyholders because we believe in its value. This service is beneficial for any sized business and can be especially useful for small to mid-sized businesses that may not have many claims but still want to be prepared.

*EMC covers the cost for standard/guaranteed cost workers’ compensation policyholders. Nonstandard policyholders may also be eligible for this service; contact claims.oncallnurse@emcins.com for eligibility.

Proven results: Save time, money, and stress

  • Save an average of over $1500 per claim: About 40% of injuries reported to OCN are resolved with self-care, allowing employees to return to work without medical treatment.
  • Quick reporting, every time: Nearly 90% of injuries are reported within three days, with 77% reported within 24 hours†. That means faster, more accurate injury reports and claims processing.

Frequently asked questions

No, EMC covers the cost for our guaranteed cost workers’ compensation policyholders.

Not necessarily. If the nurse provides self-care instructions, a claim may not be filed at all. In these cases, injuries are logged as “incident only” and won’t impact your experience mod.

While there isn’t a direct premium discount, using EMC OnCall Nurse can lead to significant cost savings, making you more likely to have a favorable renewal.

Yes, but it’s easier than ever. After the call, a First Report of Injury (FROI) and a triage report are sent to the policyholder and EMC, ensuring prompt and accurate claim setup.

Call as soon as possible after an injury. If it’s an emergency, seek emergency care first and call the hotline when it's safe to do so. Supervisors or HR can also start the reporting process on behalf of the injured employee.

Every call generates a report, which is sent to the workers’ compensation contact and EMC.

EMC OnCall Nurse is perfect for any business, especially those with fewer claims, as it simplifies injury reporting and care recommendations.
